Shake up your festive decorating this season by giving your kitchen the same festive ambiance you bring to all the other rooms in the house. It’s fun and easy to usher the holiday spirit into our kitchens with a light touch of seasonal accents, natural textural elements, delicious aromas, and unique colour palettes to create an unexpected feast for our eyes this holiday season.
While some may say that decorating the kitchen for the holidays is a little extreme or impractical, but because the family kitchen is where everyone ultimately gathers over the holidays, it just makes sense to add a few restrained festive touches to create a welcoming holiday atmosphere without distracting from the room's primary purpose – producing delicious cuisine.
Just like the classic, timeless style of Thermador appliances, traditional holiday decorations including ornaments, candles, and faux or fresh wreaths and garlands, will never go out of style. Here are ten fresh holiday looks and ideas inspired by these festive classics designed to spread holiday cheer in any style of kitchen.
Happy Holidays!

Wreaths are playing a staring roll in holiday decor this season. We love them because they’re so versatile, iconic and can add an instant holiday touch to any room in minutes. Make doing dishes and prepping meals feel less of a chore by decorating the kitchen window with a twinkling prelit evergreen garland and wreath. This cheery vignette is finished off with fragrant eucalyptus branches in a vase next to the sink and a couple of enchanting forest reindeer tucked in the corner.

A cheery grouping composed of a mini Christmas tree and flickering pillar candles simply arranged on a wooden tray decorates the island to instantly elevate the holiday ambiance when the lights are dimmed.

A billowing evergreen garland is casually draped around the kitchen window and finished with a wide velvet ribbon in the corner. Delicate white paper snowflakes suspended from the window frame add a whimsical wintery look. Tip: Use removeable adhesive hooks or tape to hang holiday decor without damaging your finishes.

Paper snowflakes from CrateandBarrel are a cheerful way to add a wintery touch. They’re light enough to safely suspend from chandeliers, window frames, ceilings or hang on the tree.
5.
Lend a holiday look to the sink area by elevating the cleaning items on a cake pedestal. Place the scrubber in a small bowl and add fragrant evergreen clippings and Christmas accents for a functional yet festive touch.

The window in the dining area of your kitchen is a lovely place to showcase the variety of evergreen wreaths that have been collected over the years. Add colour with ribbons. A simple antique brass bowl mounded with green moss creates a simple centrepiece for the dining table. This year, why not use decorations you’ve traditionally used in other parts of the house over the years and find new ways to decorate with them in the kitchen.

Mix shiny baubles with antique brass, copper and taupe in a unique bowl or basket to create a soft moody holiday look that’s warm and sophisticated.
8.
The holidays are the time to break all the rules when it comes to decor. Take your cue from the creative designer of this eclectic kitchen design who isn’t afraid of playing with non-traditional bold colours in his holiday decor. A bundle of evergreen and berry sprigs is caught up in a wide vibrant teal-blue ribbon and tied to the back of a modern ghost chair. The combination of metallic gray and mirrored finishes makes the perfect backdrop for the colourful holiday touches in this unique space.
9.
If revelling in red isn’t your holiday vibe this season, tone it down a few shades and try adding unexpected shades of pink to your festive greenery. Wreaths with pink bows decorate the cabinet doors of this party-ready prep station. I love the pop of yellow lemons in the mix and the family photos strung across the window.

As Amy Nightingale shows, having a Christmas tree in the kitchen when space allows, is a merry and bright idea especially for families who love to entertain in the space. No matter the size of the tree, the addition of a decorated tree in the kitchen will instantly set the tone for all the season’s celebrations with family and friends. A Thermador induction cooktop offers a smooth surface on countertops that are safe when people are gathering in the kitchen over the holidays. Always keep flammable decorations away from the cooking zone.
