Have you ever wondered how designers decorate their own homes for the holidays? Having decorated their clients’ homes all year long, when they finally find free time at home, do they go over the top or keep things calm and simple when decking their halls for the Christmas season?
Over the past several years I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with Designer Jackie Glass to create festive holiday decor for her gorgeous home nestled in the heart of Ontario’s scenic Niagara wine region. Jackie has always loved switching things up every year by mixing new and family-favourite decorations designing unique themes in sophisticated colour schemes inspired by her home’s natural woodland surroundings and architectural style.
For this season’s inspiration, let’s take a look at the evolution of Jackie’s magical holiday looks over the years, including the decor of her wonderful Thermador kitchen.
1.
The traditional bright Christmas colours of her family’s favourite British Quality Street candies inspired the holiday decor in the dining room of Jackie’s former century home. Gifts wrapped in brightly coloured foil wrapping paper mimic the candy’s wrappers and sit under the plump white flocked tree decorated in silver ornaments and pop out around the room in Jackie’s signature warm-white colour palette for a fun festive look. Steal these easy ideas to instantly add Christmas flare to your kitchen decor.

When Jackie moved into her new home, she took her flocked white tree with her to decorate the living room that’s open to a large white kitchen featuring stainless steel Thermador appliances. New shapely gray, white and silver ornaments adorn the voluminous tree with gifts piled beneath wrapped in coordinating colours. The chrome and glass bar cart catches the natural light that streams through the living rooms floor-to-ceiling glass windows to create a modern glam look.

Jackie gives her entrance hall a classic holiday look with a twist each year. Here, a classic faux green pre-lit tree that stands between the hall and the kitchen and is simply decorated with navy matte blue balls. Paper snowflakes fall from the ceiling over the hall table that’s decorated with a large vase of blush-pink roses with evergreen boughs and pink-wrapped gifts inspired by a bowl of pink prosecco chilling to welcome the arrival of her holiday guests.

A busy designer, Jackie Glass is also an avid cook who loves to relax by preparing healthy meals for her family and friends. When designing her kitchen Jackie took both style and performance into consideration. Jackie chose Thermador’s high-performance appliances to best meet and elevate her culinary skills and help simplify her busy lifestyle. The kitchen includes both a large island featuring the sink, recycling centre and dishwasher where family can dine or serve appetizers, desserts and beverages when entertaining, and a smaller island next to the beverage station with Thermador wine fridge, that features open shelves and large storage drawers for baking and gift wrapping supplies. Both are topped with durable quartz. Jackie presents holiday treats served on her favourite serving pieces including charcuterie boards and hand-turned wooden bowls by woodturner Brian Parrott for guests to serve themselves yummy holiday treats and beverages.
