“You think an all-white kitchen is sterile and boring? I think otherwise. It’s a classic and makes it easy and fun to add layers with all your decor.” - Designer Ashley Moore of Moore House at Home
Although I do love to see colour in the kitchen when done well, I tend to agree with Designer, Ashley Moore and prefer a white kitchen for all the reasons she mentioned. A white kitchen is a blank canvas, a space to make your mark and get creative with both your decorating and cooking. As a creative person and writer, there is nothing more exciting than starting a design project in a white room or a new story on a blank page.
I think we can both agree that Ashley’s modern farmhouse kitchen is anything but sterile or boring. It’s packed with showstoppers. The layout is open, bright and spacious with accents that add welcoming warmth and style. There’s plenty of storage that reaches for the high ceilings to maximize every inch of the space and all the finishes are curated to suit the lifestyle and simple aesthetics of a busy young family.
Here are Ashley’s showstoppers that pack a punch in this lovely family-friendly white kitchen.
1. A full suite of high-performance Thermador appliances, including fridge and freezer columns and dishwasher will serve the growing family for years to come.
2. A custom rangehood crowns the Thermador 36-inch range and provides powerful ventilation for the open kitchen/family room. Get more custom range hood ideas here.
3. White modern shaker-style cabinets on the doors and drawers allows the eye to travel uninterrupted around the kitchen creating a seamless, calm environment for a busy family space.
4. Glossy textured square tiles in shades of white clad the range and pantry walls and add a little shimmer and shine to the space.
5. Durable quartz countertops offer the perfect food-safe, scratch-resistant surfaces that are easy to clean and practical for baking, prepping and dining.
6. A porcelain fire-clay sink is a must-have for any farmhouse kitchen.
7. Natural materials - oak floors and floating shelves, woven rattan stools and decorative ceramic and wood accents add warmth, texture and details that define the modern farmhouse style.
8. Pretty hardware in a mix of antique brass, chrome and black metal finishes are inspired by Thermador’s newly designed stainless-steel appliances.
9. Two large pendants with warm white shades and black metal accents illuminate the large island designed for family baking and dining.
10. An attractive pantry with floating wood shelves to match the floor in the kitchen offers additional prep and storage space.
11. A popular modern farmhouse detail, the shiplap ceiling with pot lights completes the look.
