When colour and design are used well, they give an air of individuality and help create rooms that are energized and inviting. Although two-tone kitchens have been around for a while, it’s one of those enduring versatile trends that has evolved into a popular design choice for today’s multi-purpose kitchens. Dual-colour cabinets, when combined with different materials and finishes will add character, dimension and classic style that will stand the test of time.

If you’re designing a new kitchen or simply looking for unique ways to energize your existing white or monotone kitchen, here are five two-tone kitchens to help inspire your next kitchen project.

1.

Although you can’t go wrong with an all-white kitchen, this kitchen is the perfect example of how a classic two-tone combination of white base cabinets and painted wall units can create an elegant inviting space with defined zones. The kitchen’s charcoal and white combination features painted integrated panel-ready Thermador refrigerator and freezer columns with built-in stainless steel wall ovens. The wood accents and terracotta stone floor help to balance and tone down the high-contrast brightness of this large, primarily white kitchen.

There’s nothing like a natural wood kitchen to draw you in and embrace you with its warm and welcoming ambiance. Here in this natural oak kitchen, for a modern touch, the panels of the integrated Thermador refrigerator and freezer columns and lower cabinets beneath the black metal framed glass upper units are painted in a soft green for a calm, nature-inspired aesthetic. The Thermador dual fuel 48-inch range and custom hood ventilationintegrate beautifully into their natural wood surroundings.

3.

For those of you who love to express your whimsical side here’s a colourful kitchen that’s sure to encourage you to go for it! Done well, choosing two shades of one colour, shown here, can result in a relaxed, harmonious cooking space that’s fun to work in. A focal point in this charming two-tone orange kitchen is created with a Professional Thermador range that’s accented by a unique glass-covered piece of art for an added touch of eccentricity.

4.

If you prefer natural wood over painted cabinetry, a play on wood tones will capture a unique two-tone effect. Crafted to create a bespoke two-tone Asian-Inspired cabinetry design, this custom kitchen features dark framed doors and drawers with insert panels in rippled glass on the upper units and light wood on the base cabinets. The modern lines of Thermador built-in appliances integrate beautifully into the unique style of this kitchen.
